Family of man shot and killed by police in Lexington files wrongful death lawsuit

The family of a man who was shot and killed by police in Lexington last year is now filing a lawsuit in connection with the incident. Michael Heineman of the law firm HBMH Law said the firm filed a wrongful death suit on behalf of the family on Monday against multiple parties linked to the shooting. The suit, in turn, comes a matter of days after officials announced a judge ruled the shooting of 37-year-old Brendan Reilly was justified.“Until now, we have abstained from making public comments about Brendan’s tragic loss of life with the hope that we would receive answers through a moral and accurate Inquest process,” Reilly’s family said in a statement. “We attended all court dates for the Inquest proceedings,” the family continued. “Unfortunately, the Inquest did not adequately provide all answers to what happened to Brendan. The federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration has found an explosion that killed one worker at a pharmaceutical chemical plant in Massachusetts could have been prevented, and proposed nearly $300,000 in penalties.The May explosion at the Seqens plant in Newburyport, killed Jack O’Keefe, 62, of Methuen. People hitting the road for Thanksgiving should see some relief at the pump compared to last year, as local gas prices continue to fall ahead of the holiday.The average gas price in Massachusetts on Monday was down four cents from last week ($3.46), averaging $3.42 per gallon, according to AAA Northeast. SAN DIEGO — The pilot of a small plane that crashed near homes in La Jolla last week has been identified. The San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office has identified the man killed in Wednesday's crash as Michael Mehdi Salour, 74, of Carlsbad. LOS ANGELES (AP) — State authorities were investigating Monday after a California Highway Patrol officer shot and killed a man over the weekend in the middle of a Los Angeles area freeway during a struggle recorded on video. Sunday afternoon’s deadly encounter occurred after the highway patrol responded to multiple calls of a male pedestrian walking in westbound lanes of Interstate 105 in south LA County, the agency said in a statement. All traffic in that direction was temporarily blocked.“During the contact with the pedestrian, a struggle ensued and an officer involved shooting occurred,” the statement said.
