ST. LOUIS - Nolan Arenado reaches a long-awaited milestone, slugging his 300th career home run Saturday against the Milwaukee Brewers. Arenado delivered a two-run blast against Milwaukee's Eric Lauer. It's also his first round-tripper of the 2023 season. Close Thanks for signing up! Watch for us in your inbox. He slugged 30 home runs last season, but came just one shy of a personal milestone to close the year. For regular season action, it was a wait of just 16 games between No. 299 and 300. Arenado becomes just the eighth active MLB player with at least 300 home runs, a list that includes his close corner-infield counterpart Paul Goldschmidt. BOULDER — If one source is a fluke, two’s a pattern. So my ears perked up a bit when a pair of CU Buffs types whispered to me last week that Deion Sanders was looking for, at minimum, 15-20 new players coming out of spring ball. After what came out of Saturday afternoon’s news conference, you start to wonder if that number was a little low.I turned up at the Champions Center on Easter eve to inquire about transfers, and offensive line transfers — the Buffs added another former Kent State blocker, Jack Bailey, a few days earlier — in particular. But when I asked if CU’s big lugs were meeting his standards, Coach Prime just sort of … sat there. He paused. He hemmed. He hawed. After an uncomfortable silence, he said this:“The team that we’re playing with now is not the team that we’re going to play with in Texas (at TCU on Sept. 2) the first game.”Another pause.“Do I need to say anymore?”Nope.Sanders continued anyway.“It’s not gonna be that,” the new Buffs coa...Rockies’ right-hander Ryan Feltner has the tools, now he needs results

The tools are there: a 95 mph fastball to set up a solid changeup, a slider and the occasional curveball. The next step for Rockies right-hander Ryan Feltner is getting the most out of those tools. He gets his next shot on Sunday afternoon when he’s scheduled to start against the Nationals at Coors Field.“For Ryan, he has to take those segments of games when he pitches well, and those good at-bats, and stack them on top of each other, and not have that variability,” manager Bud Black said Saturday. “He needs to build on things — build on it in games. Not just one game, but in games.”Feltner’s first start of the season at Los Angeles was marred by the inconsistency that plagued him last year as a rookie when finished 4-9 with a 6.03 ERA in 19 starts. Against the Dodgers, Feltner was charged with five runs on four hits over 4 2/3 innings. He struck out seven but it was the five walks and the high pitch count (91 pitches, 53 strikes) that most ...Motorcyclist dies in crash with pickup truck on U.S. 85 in Douglas County

SAN JOSE – Logan Couture and Tomas Hertl both remember when the San Jose Sharks were a dominant team at home. With a big, deep lineup full of talented and tough players, the Sharks were notorious for setting the tone early on and putting opponents on their heels, typically in front of sellout crowds.“I remember I talked to other Czech guys before I get to the NHL,” Hertl said, “and they were always saying the first 10 minutes at SAP is the hardest building in the NHL.”Things have changed by near-historic proportions. With their 6-1 loss to the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday, the Sharks completed their 40-game slate at SAP Center this season with a dismal 8-21-11 record, matching the franchise mark for fewest wins on home ice in a full season. The Sharks went 8-33-1 in 1992-93 in the second and final year at the Cow Palace in Daly City before they moved into their present home the following season. One of the Sharks’ games as the home team came in Prague in October against the Nashville P...Rohnert Park man arrested for elder abuse, injuring officer: police
