NEW YORK (PIX11) ---- A bus carrying students from Long Island to a band camp overturned on a New York highway Thursday afternoon, officials said. The bus crashed on I-84 in Middletown at 1:12 p.m., police said. It was carrying students from the Farmingdale School District.“We were informed that there had been an accident with Bus 1 en route to Greeley, PA for Band Camp. Police and emergency responders on the scene, as well as district administration. We will provide another update when more information becomes available. We ask for your patience as we gather more details," according to a statement from the Farmingdale School District.I-84 is closed at exit 15 while authorities investigate the scene. New York Attorney General Letitia James’s (D) office late Wednesday night pushed back on former President Trump’s “brazen and meritless” attempt to delay an upcoming civil trial in which she is suing Trump, his business and two of his adult children for fraud.James warned a delay could cause issues with Trump’s broader court calendar, in which he is facing four criminal indictments. The trial in this civil suit was set to begin Oct. 2, but a judge issued an interim pause after Trump claimed the trial judge was ignoring an appellate ruling. The pause request now heads to a panel of New York appeals judges for a final decision. Judith Vale, deputy solicitor general in James’s office, called Trump’s petition a “brazen and meritless attempt” to “usurp” the trial judge’s authority to manage his own docket and his “fundamental judicial role” to issue certain rulings. One person was killed in a crash on the 405 Freeway in Los Angeles early Thursday morning, forcing a closure of southbound lanes that impacted traffic across a wide area.The crash was reported around 4:45 a.m. on the freeway near Skirball Center Drive in Brentwood, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.First responders found a vehicle had collided with the back of a trailer being pulled by a big rig. Woman Pronounced Dead after Fiery Car Accident near Beaumont AvenueOAKLAND, CA (September 21, 2023) -Late Tuesday morning, a female driver lost her life in a fiery automobile collision on Highway 580.Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene, which occurred at approximately 11:00 a.m., near the Beaumont Avenue overpass.According to reports, the driver of a white Chevrolet Trailblazer collided with a Chevrolet Bolt, operated by a 44-year-old woman.
